The Commander of the Finnish Defence Forces, General Jarmo Lindberg
visited Dublin from 18th to 20th April. The Commander of the Irish Defence Forces, Vice Admiral Mark Mellett hosted the visit. From the Finnish Embassy in Dublin Ambassador Jaana Teckenberg and Deputy Head of Mission Kaisa Leidy took part in the visit.
During his visit General Lindberg met with the high leadership of the Irish Defence Forces and representatives from Ireland’s Ministry of Defence. All the discussions were featured by the joint peacekeeping battalion between Finland and Ireland in Lebanon’s UNIFIL-operation. In the Cathal Brugha Barracks the Commander inspected the Guard of Honor and he was presented with the Irish Defence Forces’ equipment. General Lindberg also addressed the Irish Military College’s Senior Command and Staff Courses.
