In some cases, it may be difficult to know which authorities to contact in Finland regarding a certain matter. The Public Service Info is a centralised advice service that provides assistance in finding the correct authority even for Finns residing or travelling abroad. The service also provides support for users of e-services and answers general questions about public services.
If you need advice, you are welcome to contact the Public Service Info no matter where you are, by
Only the operator’s local network, mobile call, or text message charge will be made for calls and text messages. The service itself is free of charge.
As many as 12,000 citizens have contacted the Public Service Info since the service opened a year ago. In more than 90 per cent of the cases, the response is given during the first phonecall. Most of those who contact the service electronically have their question answered within 24 hours.
"Expatriate Finns ask us, for instance, whether they are entitled to receive a pension from Finland, how they can back a citizens' initiative or which body they should inform when a child is born abroad", says Minna Kuitunen, head of the Public Service Info.
The Public Service Info, located at the State Treasury, is part of the Public Sector Customer Service Development Project and the Action Programme on eServices and eDemocracy (SADe programme) co-ordinated by the Ministry of Finance.
