Santa Claus brought joy to many during his visit in Ireland

Finnish Santa Claus from Lapland came for a visit in Dublin from 5th to 6th of December. When interviewed by RTÉ, Santa told that he had heard so many good things about children in Ireland that he had to come to meet them himself. During his first day in Dublin, Santa brought well needed Christmas greetings to young patients in the two children's hospitals in Dublin.

Lucky children that had been chosen in the Embassy's competition came to meet with Santa Claus at the event at the Ambassador's residence on Monday evening. The excited group lined up patiently to get to greet Santa and to have a picture taken with him. One lucky guest won a trip for the whole family to Rovaniemi donated by Finnair and the Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna Rovaniemi. Santa Claus made the winner promise to visit him during his trip to Lapland.

The little guests gathered to listen to a story read by the Santa Claus himself before it was time to say goodbye. From the visibly happy group of children you could hear comments like "I don't want to go home" or "I wish we could live this day tomorrow again".

The following day it was a horse carriage, instead of the traditional sleigh, that was Santa's festive transportation to the opening of Lord Mayor's Live Animal Crib in the city centre. Little angels in the choir just could not take their eyes off him. Also at Mansion House, the children got an opportunity to tell their wishes for Christmas to Santa and received little gifts to take home with them.

Later that day some busy travellers might have looked twice when Santa Claus greeted them at the Dublin Airport before heading back home to Rovaniemi with his official airline Finnair.
